Let’s Go, FNB NWU Eagles!!
The 2023 season was full of exhilarating moments and epic Rugby. From the first game that saw defending champions FNB UP-Tuks losing 26-25, on home ground, to FNB UFS Shimlas to the FNB NWU Eagles final victory over FNB UCT Ikey. It was the year of upsets with many of the big guns struggling against the underdogs. We can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store.
FNB UP-Tuks triumphs over FNB Matties 23 – 29 in the Varsity Cup 2022 final for a second win in a row. The year had some big names like Kurt-Lee Arendse (FNB UWC) & Mannie Libbok (FNB TUKS) through Varsity Cup to the World Cup champions inducted into the honour roll.
The first Varsity Cup after lockdown was sure to be one for the books. After losing to FNB Matties in 2019, FNB UP-Tuks made a comeback to lift the trophy with a 34-27 win against FNB Ikeys Tigers. This was also the year Springbok No. 8 Jasper Wiese was inducted into the honour roll.
FNB Maties ended yet another dominant 2019 season with a 34-12 win over FNB Tuks. The team lifted the Varsity Cup for the 5th time since the tournament started in 2008. This was the year where Springboks Hershel Jantjies and Rynhardt Elstadt were inducted into the honour roll.
